Guidelines for Sub-processors

A "sub-processor" is a third-party service that Mars Security ("Mars", "we", "us", or "our") engages to process data on our behalf in order to operate, secure, and improve the Mars Slack application (the "Slack App") and related services. This page explains the standards we apply when engaging sub-processors and lists the sub-processors we currently use. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. Our guidelines for engaging sub-processors
Before we engage a sub-processor, we require that it meets the following standards:
- Due diligence. We assess each sub-processor's security posture, privacy practices, and reliability before onboarding, and periodically thereafter.
- Contractual safeguards. We put a written agreement in place (including a data processing agreement and, where relevant, standard contractual clauses) that binds the sub-processor to confidentiality and data-protection obligations no less protective than those in our own commitments.
- Data minimization. We share only the data necessary for the sub-processor to perform its specific function, and only for that purpose.
- No training on your data. Where we use LLM providers, data is sent under terms that prohibit using it to train general-purpose models.
- Security requirements. Sub-processors must apply industry-standard safeguards such as encryption in transit and at rest and appropriate access controls.
- Purpose limitation. Sub-processors may not use your data for their own marketing, advertising, or product development.
2. Our sub-processors
We engage a limited set of sub-processors across categories such as cloud hosting and infrastructure, large language model (LLM) providers used by Mars's hunting and investigation agents, and operational tooling such as error monitoring and logging. These categories are also summarized in our Privacy Policy.
We maintain a current, itemized list of the specific sub-processors we use, including their purpose and processing locations. We provide this list, and answer related questions, to customers and prospective customers on request. To receive it, email mars-support@marssec.ai.
3. Changes to our sub-processors
We may add or replace sub-processors as our service evolves. Customers under contract receive notice of material changes through the Mars platform or by email where required by their agreement, so they have an opportunity to review changes before they take effect.
4. Objecting to a sub-processor
If you have a reasonable, data-protection-based objection to a new sub-processor, contact us at mars-support@marssec.ai and we will work with you in good faith to address it.
